Maryland Department of Health,
Know Your Risk Campaign

Project Overview
The Maryland Department of Health launched the Know Your Risk campaign to educate at-risk adults about the risk factors for Type 2 diabetes. The initiative aimed to increase awareness and drive residents to complete an online risk assessment. The campaign was developed in partnership with Impact Marketing.

Role
Led creative concepting and design, drawing on market research that identified time as the number-one barrier to public health education. The campaign emphasized that the risk survey takes only one minute, comparing it to everyday tasks people prioritize such as ordering food, getting nails done, picking an outfit, or watching a game. Oversaw campaign design and production, delivering bilingual assets across digital, print, and out-of-home advertising, including static and video social media ads, bus shelters, bus wraps, and flyers.

Approach
Created a clear, approachable visual system that balanced urgency with empathy. By framing the survey as quick and achievable, the campaign helped reduce audience hesitations. Assets were designed in both English and Spanish to ensure accessibility and cultural relevance, with consistent application across platforms ranging from mobile to large-scale transit.

Impact
The campaign drove more than 5,600 people to take the “Know Your Risk” test and generated over 12 million ad impressions. It successfully increased awareness of Type 2 diabetes risk factors across Maryland communities and demonstrated the effectiveness of clear, accessible design in motivating participation in public health initiatives.
